All of the issues with stage fright and whatever demons I have been battling have been vanquished. The new CD is in the final stages of mix-down now, and the extra time and attention has really paid off and allowed me to produce a product that is polished and yet still retains a live, natural quality. The last stages of preparing it for the digital realm may require putting it into a computer for digital formatting but that will probably be the extent of any computer based editing. I'm deeply indebted to a friend at Apple who really loves my CD Many Splendid Things, especially the first song, "Sweet Lorraine." He, and the folks at Cupertino California have provided me with a state of the art Mac which is going to make these final steps easier and speed the production and creation of future projects. Also deeply indebted to Imani, a renowned producer and good friend of mine who is scheduled to come over here Sunday and have a look at my setup, and a listen to some of the CD masters I've already made. His extensive knowledge of computer based musical software, as well as mixing and equalizing is going to be a welcome asset to my very limited experience. Just talking to him over the phone opens up so many possibilities and gives me so many ideas. Having him over here is going to be a real treat. (You can check out his CD, "From this Moment On," at CDBaby and the other usual sites.) So, for now that's about it. Still editing the mix and making things sound as balanced and professional as possible. The extra practice on my vocals has given me more confidence in any setting...be it live or studio. The only person I'm competing against is myself.
